The DUFF

Watching this teenage dirt bag movie that most teens may have appreciated (hey I'm still a kid at heart as well). I feel it was relatively close to home. Now you would wonder why I would be saying that. The DUFF is under the title of 'The Designated Ugly Fat Friend'. The movie revolves around a girl called Bianca (Mae Whitman) and her two best friends. Now Bianca is a slob who lives alone with her mom. She has two best friends who are... more in tune (way more) to their fashion sense than she is. In comes Madison (Bella Thorne) the Queen Bee of the school who invites everyone to her party except Bianca. However, since her best friends go she goes as well and gets to know that she is the DUFF by her neighbour (sort of friend) Wesley (Robbie Amell). Going through different stages. Starting from Denial and ending with Acceptance.
Through the process she initially fights with her friends, gets bullied by Madison because of her crush and overall persona and finally accepts her fate and coming to terms with what she is and the feelings she had/has for Wesley. The climax of the movie happens during the time when she goes to her school dance and ultimately not only stands up for herself but gets the guy as well. So the movie ends with her going on a date with Wesley while her article in the school newspaper becomes viral and popular.
The movie is Driected by Ari Sandel  while the Screenplay is by Josh A. Cagan and is Produced by  @msgwonderland (MSG), @itsmaryviola (Mary Viola) and @Susancartsonis )Susan Cartsonis). The movie is honestly a one time show that is cannot be repeated more than once. It feels that Bianca is trying too hard with her acting skills and Wesley is the designated man-whore whom she is willing to fall for. Other than that the movie rates an okay on the yay scale. The plot is a bit weak (The book is always better).

Yay Scale: 3 stars
